Ray Thomas, 1941-2018

Flautist, singer and songwriter, Ray Thomas, as a founding member of the Moody Blues, one of the most successful bands of all time, isn’t the type of musician we generally cover in Remixed. But as I sit here mourning his recent passing, it occurs to me that his final album, a 2011 solo effort titled “The Trouble With Memories” was released independently, so I have my excuse. The album consists primarily of an interview with Thomas by former bandmate and Moody Blues co-founder Mike Pinder, and a selection of songs from his previous solo albums.

It also includes this lovely new song – to my knowledge the last original song he released. It’s not my absolute favorite Ray Thomas song, but it does capture a great deal of who he was as a musician and a human being.

Take a bow, Veteran Cosmic Rocker, and bravo.
